THE MERIT POINT PROGRAM
Students should be aware of this activity before day one of training. A Merit Point can be earned by stumping the director on a History question from the period being studied. If the director answers the question correctly, the game ends for that student that day. If the student is successful, the director, in return, asks the student a History question. If they answer correctly, a Merit Point is earned. These may be traded for choices and options such as a higher rank [students must obey lawful orders from students of higher rank], a special weapon or other considerations.
Students must know their question and answer in their heads. They may not look at books or notes when asking. If there is a disagreement between the student and director about a fact, the student will be asked to produce documented proof [a book, Internet printout, etc. ]. If such proof is produced, even though the information may be incorrect, the student will receive the Merit Point without having to answer a question back. All students should pay attention to all questions and answers because anything ever asked or answered can be used again at a later time.
Students may have a chance to earn Merit Points during a "name that tune" portion of the training. Students who are especially helpful may earn Merit Points at the discretion of the YCLH representative.
